--FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE--
PASADENA, California (November 1, 2007) - Pasadena-based West Coast Sports Management LLC, one of baseball's premier athlete development firms, today named former Los Angeles Dodgers General Manager Dan Evans as its President and CEO.
Evans, 47, recently completed his 27 th season in professional baseball and third year as a senior member of the Seattle Mariners' organization, where he was Special Assistant to the General Manager/Player Personnel for Mariners GM Bill Bavasi.
"I am truly excited about this opportunity," said Evans. "West Coast is among the most widely respected athlete management companies in the sport. I am honored to be joining Dave Penniall and Bill Shupper, two seasoned pros who have impeccable credentials, and a staff that includes Len Strelitz and Jim Lentine, two of the finest minds in player development and scouting--still the critical practices in the game. Combine all that with a strong nucleus of players and an excellent facility and there's a lot to be excited about."
"Dan is a talented executive whom we are delighted to welcome to West Coast Management," said Dave Penniall, Owner of West Coast Sports Management. "Having run the Dodgers and contributed senior counsel to three other premier franchises, he is a strong fit for our team and staff and brings a unique perspective to delivering our world-class training and counsel. In addition to all his valuable experience in baseball operations, he also has extensive salary arbitration experience, adding yet another positive dimension to offer our clients."
From 2001-04, Evans served as a senior executive in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. The club's .548 winning percentage while he was General Manager is the second-best mark for a GM in LA franchise history. Evans' Mariner responsibilities included directing all its professional scouting, evaluating all 30 MLB clubs and the Mariners' system, along with extensive amateur and international scouting.
