Matt Carson signs with Oakland Athletics
Free agent outfielder Matt Carson, who batted .285 with 15 home runs and 64 RBI combined with the Yankees' Triple-A and Double-A affiliates in 2008, has signed with the Oakland Athletics.
The right-handed hitting Carson, 27, just batted .273 with six homers and 19 RBI with a .571 slugging percentage as a member of the Aguilas club in the Dominican Republic Winter League.
Carson will report to the Athletics' Major League spring training camp as a non-roster player.
